Week two kicks off with a bang, as the Packers host the Bears in a huge week two NFC North showdown. The Pack lost to the Niners last week, while the Bears took down the Colts.
The Pack looked totally out of sync in their loss to the Niners, as the SF defense did a solid job in holding Aaron Rogers and the Packers offense in check most of the day.
Rodgers threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns, but he also had a key interception in the fourth quarter, and with WR Greg Jennings ailing with a knee injury, the Bears D will look to make it a long night again for the Packers offense.
Green Bay simply needs to be more even on offense, as their run game Sunday was nowhere to be found. New running back Cedric Benson, a former No. 4 overall draft pick by Chicago, managed just 18 yards on nine carries, while the 49ers rolled up 186 yards on the ground – 5.8 per carry – for the league’s second-highest Week 1 total.
Jay Cutler has been talking big all week about how he wants to get his hands on the Packers D.
Cutler threw for 333 yards and a pair of touchdowns as his favorite target quickly became Brandon Marshall, who caught nine balls for 119 yards and a score in his Bears debut. Marshall’s two biggest seasons in terms of receptions and yards were in 2007 and ’08, when Cutler was his quarterback in Denver.
The Bears have a solid look on offense with Matt Forte being a bigger impact back than Benson. The Pack are desperate for a win after the loss to the Niners, but Chicago has the look of a team ready to take the next step.
Look for a competitive back and forth game with plenty of points, with the Bears in the end making more big plays and sending the Packers into a panic at 0-2.
